Climate Specialist
As a Climate Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping evidence-based and solution-oriented policy recommendations related to climate change, environmental governance and sustainability. You will contribute your expertise to projects spanning mitigation, adaptation, and just transition, helping clients navigate complex climate challenges through strategic insights, research, and stakeholder engagement. This role combines deep subject-matter knowledge with strong collaboration across teams and partners.
Job Responsibilities
Lead or support the development and delivery of advisory and research projects related to climate change, environmental policy, and sustainability.
Provide strategic and technical insights on climate-related issues, including but not limited to climate mitigation and adaptation, just transition, carbon governance, and nature-based solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design evidence-based recommendations and policy interventions.
Develop high-quality knowledge products such as policy briefs, reports, and presentation materials tailored for government, civil society, or private sector stakeholders.
Engage with stakeholders across sectors (government, NGOs, private sector, and academia) to inform, align, and amplify climate policy initiatives.
Monitor global and national trends in climate policy and ensure Think Policy’s work reflects the latest insights and frameworks.
Mentor and guide junior team members working on climate-related projects.
Contribute to proposal development, partnership building, and organizational learning related to climate policy and environmental governance.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Climate Studies, Sustainability, or a related field.
3–6 years of professional experience working on climate change, environmental policy, or sustainability issues.
Strong understanding of Indonesia’s climate policy landscape, international climate agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement), and sectoral challenges (e.g., energy transition, forestry, agriculture).
Demonstrated ability to analyze climate-related data, policies, and stakeholder dynamics to develop actionable insights.
Experience producing high-quality policy documents, briefs, or reports.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and sectors, including with government, civil society, and the private sector.
Comfortable managing multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience leading project teams, mentoring junior staff, and representing the organization in strategic discussions.
